Apollo — theme guide

Be yourself · Music & Podcast

Apollo is for solo artists, bands, DJs, producers, composers and podcasters — the sections a music site needs, with a bold, high-energy default look.

At a glance

  • 14 section patterns and 6 complete page layouts
  • 3 style variations: Phoebus, Musagetes, Citharoedus
  • Discography, tour dates, episodes, streaming links, press quotes, gallery
  • Motion: scroll reveals, hero parallax, a scrolling ticker and an animated equalizer
  • No commerce — pair with Hermes if you need to sell

Two homepages

Insert either the Artist homepage or the Podcast homepage pattern into a new page, then set it under Settings → Reading. Both are complete layouts built from the section patterns.

The music sections

  • Latest release — a featured record with an animated “now playing” indicator.
  • Discography — an album grid.
  • Tour dates — a scrolling ticker of cities and dates.
  • Streaming links — a row of platform links.
  • Episodes — for podcasts.

Embedding music and video

Use the core Embed block. Paste a Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube or Mixcloud URL on its own line and WordPress embeds the player automatically. The theme styles the result to match.

The hero parallax

The artist hero drifts and scales gently as you scroll. To apply it to another cover block, add the class apollo-parallax under Advanced → Additional CSS class(es). Like all motion here, it respects the visitor’s reduce-motion setting.

Start with the default

The default is deliberately the loudest option: heavy Fraunces headings in hot vermilion on neutral paper. It is the high-energy face of the theme. If you want something quieter, Phoebus and Citharoedus are both lighter, and Musagetes is the dark one.

Fonts: Fraunces & Inter · Palette: bold vermilion on neutral paper

You do not have to change anything. The default is a finished design, not a placeholder — the style variations are alternatives, not upgrades.

Style variations

The default is a bold vermilion on neutral paper. Phoebus is warm daylight gold, Musagetes is a dark stage-lit look with a coral accent, and Citharoedus is a cool indigo.

Picking the dark one

Musagetes is the only dark variation in the family and suits artist sites particularly well — photography and album art read better against a dark ground.
