Hermes — theme guide

Be smart · E-commerce & Shop

Hermes is the shop theme: a complete WooCommerce storefront with product templates, a distraction-free checkout and a sticky add-to-cart bar.

At a glance

  • 23 templates, 47 patterns
  • 3 style variations: Caduceus, Chthonios, Logios
  • Full WooCommerce template set — shop, product, cart, checkout, order confirmation
  • Sticky add-to-cart bar on product pages
  • A separate minimal checkout header to reduce abandonment

Setting up the shop

  1. Install and activate WooCommerce before anything else.
  2. Run the WooCommerce setup wizard — it creates the Shop, Cart, Checkout and My Account pages.
  3. Add your products.
  4. Check Settings → Permalinks and save once, so product URLs work.
Install WooCommerce first

If you activate Hermes before WooCommerce, the shop templates and product patterns will not appear. Activating WooCommerce afterwards fixes it — no reinstall needed.

Two homepages

Hermes includes a shop homepage (product-led) and a consulting homepage (service-led), for businesses that sell both. Pick one under Page → Template.

The sticky cart bar

On product pages, once the normal add-to-cart button scrolls out of view, a slim bar appears at the bottom of the screen with the product image, price, a quantity selector and an add-to-cart button. It adds to the cart without reloading the page. It works automatically — there is nothing to configure.

The checkout header

Checkout uses its own stripped-back header: no menu, no cart, no search — just your logo, a link back to the shop and a security note. This is deliberate. Removing navigation at checkout is one of the most reliable ways to reduce abandoned carts. Edit it under Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Template parts → Checkout Header.

Start with the default

The default is the shop face: heavy Roboto headings against light Mulish body text, on a near-white background with mint section blocks. It is built to make product images and prices the loudest thing on the page.

Fonts: Roboto & Mulish · Palette: near-white with soft mint and a dusty mauve accent

You do not have to change anything. The default is a finished design, not a placeholder — the style variations are alternatives, not upgrades.

Style variations

Caduceus is warm and earthy, Chthonios is dark and dramatic, Logios is clean corporate.

If a WooCommerce block shows an error

Blocks sometimes report “This block contains unexpected content” in the editor. Click Attempt recovery. This is a known quirk of WooCommerce blocks and does not affect your live site.
